Under the Malaysia Law, in a property transaction, a saleperson who collects a fee without a valid licences is an offence and the penalty is fine of RM5000 or jail for 3 years or both.


What are the differences between a broker, negotiator and REA? (Registered Estate Agent)
  1. Broker:

    -an illegal saleperson involve in a property transaction and collect a fee.

  2. Negotiator:

    -a saleperson employed by a licence REA.

  3. REA:

    -an individual who is registered by the Board of Valuers, Appriasers and Estate Agents Malaysia which are under the Ministry of Finance.


How to become a REA?

 
  1. Entry requirement

    1.Malaysian citizen

    2.MCE/SPM at least 3 credit and 2 passes.

    3.Credit should be in either Maths,Science,

    Accounting or Commerce.

  2. Exam

    Part 1: 1st. year exam

    Part 2: 2nd. year exam

    Part 3: 5th. year

    Test of Professional competence.

    2 years pratical experience with a

    REA agency.
